Life Healthcare Registrar Day in Gauteng

For many registrars, completing specialist training is only the beginning of a new journey. While years of clinical education equip doctors with the skills needed to care for patients, the transition into private practice brings an entirely different set of opportunities, challenges and decisions.

This was the focus of Life Healthcare's recent Registrar Day in Gauteng, part of the long-running A to Z of Private Practice programme that Life Healthcare has hosted in partnership with Investec since 2011. The initiative was established to help senior registrars better understand the realities of private practice and to support them as they prepare for the next phase of their careers.

The event brought together registrars, fellows and state-employed consultants for a day of practical learning, discussion and networking. Led by Life Healthcare Chief Medical Officer, Dr Karisha Quarrie, the programme featured experienced healthcare leaders and specialists who shared insights on topics ranging from medico-legal considerations and healthcare funding to practice management, professional sustainability and the evolving healthcare landscape.

Beyond the presentations, the Registrar Day created an opportunity for emerging specialists to engage directly with peers and established practitioners, ask candid questions and gain perspectives that are often difficult to access during formal training.
