A Vacancy exists for a Therapy Services Co-coordinator at the acute Rehabilitation Unit at Life New Kensington Clinic in Gauteng. The Life Rehabilitation at Life New Kensington Clinic Rehabilitation unit is part of an expanding network of rehabilitation units within Life Healthcare. The post holder will report to the Hospital Manager and will be expected to manage a professional team to deliver a quality and cost-effective rehabilitation service.
- Critical Outputs

- Co-ordination of the acute rehabilitation therapy service within an interdisciplinary team of rehabilitation professionals, including timeous discharge planning.
- Professional therapy service implementation in accordance with Life Healthcare protocols and procedures.
- Assessment, development and maintenance of appropriate and intensive therapy programs.
- Ensure the establishment and maintenance of a spasticity management programme.
- Ensure implementation of Life Rehabilitation clinical outcomes measures.
- Co-ordination of family and patient educational programs.
- Providing patient and family support and effective communication as needed.
- Funder liaison, including timeous reporting on patient progress and rehabilitation needs.
- Implementation of growth strategy, including new products.
- Management of the therapy team performance according to company best practices
- Appropriate staffing of therapy services according to unit needs within budget requirements.
- Staff development through mentoring and training.
- Active co-ordination of the Continuing Professional Development program.
- Coordinate research initiatives.
- Close liaison with rehabilitation nursing team to co-ordinate service delivery.
- Create a unit culture, which promotes business objectives, a performance / results orientation, customer focus and teamwork.
- Drive quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensuring compliance to the clinical, quality, efficiency standards and operational requirements.
- Constructive liaison between the rehabilitation unit and other hospital functions.
- Promote and maintain sound and productive relationships with referral sources and stakeholders in the field of Rehabilitation.
- Active participation in national therapy management forum.
- Requirements
-
- The minimum requirement for this position is a degree in any of the therapy professions.
- Relevant current registration with the appropriate body, e.g. HPCSA.
- Experience in the rehabilitation field for at least 5 years and management of multi-disciplinary teams is essential.
- Experience in the private funder environment would be an advantage.
- Strong leadership qualities and interpersonal skills are required, as well as vision and tenacity to develop the rehabilitation function into a strategic advantage to the hospital.
- Results orientation, attention to detail, patient focus, and excellent interpersonal skills are very important for this position.
- Proof of Covid-19 vaccination.
