Introduction

A vacancy exists for a dynamic qualified and experienced Registered Nurse (Rehabilitation), based at Life Riverfield Lodge, reporting to Noma Lolwana, Unit Manager. The successful candidates will be goal oriented and committed to best operating practice for patient outcomes and will be responsible for ensuring that patients receive optimal care to achieve the hospital and company objectives of quality, growth and people.

Critical Outputs

Provide quality patient care:

• Working closely with the Unit Manager to manage labour hours and promote a safe and healthy environment for patients, staff and visitors.
• Demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Implementing and coordinating individualised nursing care plans to achieve optimal clinical outcomes.
• Ensuring compliance with Life Healthcare policies, procedures and protocols.
• Ensuring that quality management systems and initiatives are implemented and maintained according to unit requirements.
• Maintaining patient safety, dignity, privacy and confidentiality at all times.
• Participating in and initiating training and development activities to promote personal and professional growth.
• Working effectively within a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team.
• Managing stock and resources according to unit-specific policies and protocols.
• Building and maintaining professional relationships with doctors, allied healthcare professionals and other relevant stakeholders.
• Conducting unit-specific orientation and in-service training as required.
• Promoting a safe and healthy working environment through the appropriate reporting and management of alerts, incidents and adverse events.
• Ensuring accurate, complete and effective record keeping in accordance with legal, ethical and professional requirements.
• Participating in quality improvement initiatives and ensuring that identified risks and corrective actions are appropriately managed.

Requirements

• Relevant Degree or Diploma in Nursing.
• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Relevant rehabilitation nursing experience will be an advantage.
• Psychiatric or Mental Health training and/or experience will be an added advantage.
• Strong customer orientation and commitment to patient-centred care.
• Ability to function effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Energetic, organised and able to work effectively under pressure in a continuously changing environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to work rotational shifts.
• Demonstrated leadership and management abilities.
• Passion for patient care, rehabilitation and achieving quality clinical outcomes.
• Basic understanding of relevant labour legislation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
