A vacancy exists for an Artisan - HVAC, based at Life Flora Hospital, reporting to Peris Naicker, Engineering Manager. The successful candidate will ensure that all HVAC related equipment installed at the hospital are serviced at the required intervals and that breakdowns are repaired within a reasonable period of time.
- Critical Outputs

- Conduct Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Annual Planned Maintenance on all HVAC related Installations, mechanical plant and equipment
- Conduct Fault Finding and repairs on HVAC related Installations
- Monitor and manage maintenance work conducted by Contractors on site
- Manage work conducted by team members on HVAC installations to ensure that work is conducted safely and to the required standards
- Complete and return all maintenance job cards to the Engineering Office
- Maintain and improve one’s technical knowledge by being involved in either formal or informal training.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Ensure operation and reliability of mechanical equipment by conducting preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
- Attend to breakdowns and take remedial action to ensure that equipment are operational.
- Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical equipment in operation, listening for problems using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Ensure that mechanical equipment services are done timeously and service records are provided.
- Maintain equipment parts and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level. Ensure that spares are ordered and received timeously.
- Provide mechanical maintenance information by answering questions upon requests.
- Prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Ensure that contractors working on mechanical plant and equipment adhere to Health and Safety rules.
- Assist with any other work as requested by management.
- Conduct risk assessments prior to conducting any maintenance related work on plant and equipment.
- Implement Continuous Improvement tasks based on one’s own knowledge, skills and experience.
- Requirements
-
- Grade 12
- At least N5 qualification in Mechanical Engineering
- A Trade Test in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration or in Fitting
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must have own transport
- Perform standby duties
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working as a HVAC Artisan
- Good knowledge and experience working on Chillers, AHUs, VRF or VRV air conditioning units
- Experience working on projects relating to the installation of new air conditioning units
- Computer literacy in Microsoft would be an added advantage.
- General knowledge in air compressors and vacuum pump systems would also be advantageous.
