A vacancy exists for a or a Professional Wellness Manager based at the Life Wellness Clinic in Hotazel in the Northern Cape. The successful candidate will be reporting to a Unit Manager. The Wellness Manager will be responsible to manage the mining site’s Wellness program. And be responsible to render a quality service and which is effective and efficient and meets and exceeds the Client’s expectations and requirements.
- Critical Outputs

To assist the Unit Manager and client with the management of healthcare programs related to Primary Healthcare, Chronic Illness, HIV, TB, Wellness.
- In consultation with the client and other suppliers, compile and implement and annual health awareness plan and programme. Establish a year planner for a Health program. Assist with the implementation of wellness days and health awareness and education drives.
- Assist with Policy and COP review.
- Implement and manage the MOU (Public Health Service) to ensure employees are referred for appropriate treatment on identified conditions.
- Compiling Reports
- Accurate data capturing.
- Compiling monthly wellness reports. Assist with compiling of accurate written and statistical feedback reports at specified intervals This would include DOH and DMPR and Masoyise reports, as required.
- Assist with the compiling of information and data, for feedback, on identified health problems and trends identified and progress with regards to the on-site Chronic Illness Monitoring, TB, HIV and Wellness program
- Capturing of all TB cases as identified by Med Tech and OHN in TB suspect and treatment register, DOH Notification, DMR SAMMOD and Illness notification forms.
- To drive continuous quality programs and ensure a high quality of remote incident and case management, driving customer satisfaction and client retention.
- Comply with all relevant administration related duties and functions and completion of registers.
- Comply with prescribed professional and quality standards of both Life Health Solutions and the Client.
- Assist with the compliance to quality programs and conducting of internal quality, client, and external audits.

- Ensuring compliance with ISO 9001:2008 and OHSAS 18001:2007 standards including internal and external audits (Life Employee Solutions as well as client audits).
- Provide expert professional advice to employees and ensure the maintenance of clinical excellence.
- To prevent ill-health, promote good health and well-being amongst employees which includes testing, monitoring, referral, and follow-up.
- Conduct examinations, tests, and treatment where applicable concurrently with the Occupational Health Team.
- Establish fitness to work, with feedback to the line managers or referral to the on-site OMP, should a problem be identified.
- Work effectively within a pre-determined budget, comply with stock control measures and requirement, including the ordering of stock.
- Provides management through assessment and monitoring of chronic conditions, developing individual follow-up plan and ensuring employee compliance to treatment regimen.
- Active participation in the Wellness committee and arranging wellness days.
- Assist company with arrangements for Wellness coordinators/peer educators through the involvement in the Wellness committees.
- Assist with necessary training arrangements and evaluation of course content.
- Monthly Health Awareness Campaign the client at the mine to receive monthly newsletters in line with the monthly theme, posters, and desk drop. The wellness manager will ensure these topics are made available in the health centre focuses on the theme for the duration of the month e.g., campaigns aligned with the theme for the month.
- Inform and advice management and employees on matters of health and safety ad hoc or through the monthly involvement on the Wellness committees.
- Advise the client of recent instances or outbreaks of infectious diseases and pandemics in the Northern Cape, as well as other relevant health issues immediately as they become known.
- Liaison function with the members of the multidisciplinary team, employees’ private doctors, local health authorities and hospitals.
- To function as an autonomous practitioner working independently and in conjunction with other health care professionals to assess, diagnose and tract the conditions of employees.
- Keep up to date with innovative methods and practices to deliver exceptional primary care, Wellness, and case management services to meet the needs of the client.
- Assist with the updating of relevant registers.
- Ensure clinic stock (medicines and consumables) is controlled, ordered on time, are within budget and complies with required stock levels and contractual requirements.
- Ensure quarterly stock counts are conducted, with submission of accurate stock count documentation, to the Regional Office, by the set dates.
- Ensure clinic equipment is calibrated on time, are in good working order and replaced or upgraded when required.
- Requirements
-
The following critical qualifications and skills would be a requirement:
- Nursing Diploma or Degree, qualified as a Registered Nurse Diploma or degree in General Health, Primary and the Occupational Health Nursing would be to the advantage. Registration with SANC.
- Basis Life Support Certificate.
- HIMART HIV and or NIMHART TB theory and practical
- HIV counselling
- Dispensing Certificate.
- A relevant qualification in Wellness Management and hold post basic course in management of certificate in HIV testing and Counselling, treatment of TB, HIV and STI’s relevant Wellness Qualification.
- The candidate should have experience at least 3 years in Wellness of multidisciplinary teams, administration, employee relations and communications.
- Two to 3 years’ experience in the provision of Primary Health and Wellness services, in an Occupational Health and Mining Clinic
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience post-graduation mining environment
- Own transport is essential and in position of a Driver’s license Code 8 and own accommodation
- Computer literacy Microsoft Office (Medical database experience advantageous).
- Experience in Wellness Management reporting and Administration (QMED, NICD, DOH, DMPR, DHIS).
- Experience in coordinating the following and implementing, manage, the following programs:
- Health and chronic illness monitoring and follow-up and fitness for work.
- Ensure all registers are kept up to date and are accurate i.e., registers for TB
- Compile accurate and professional feedback reports to the Client.
- Prepare and assist with clinic audits and ensure all findings are corrected and closed out on time.
- Establish health status and trends of employee’s, with accurate feedback to the Clients, which would include proposed preventative and promote recommendation and relevant interventions. Ensure all data captured is accurate and up to date.
- Ensure all filing is up to date and is done accurately. Confidentially, of employee information may not be compromised.
- Ensure all data capturing is done correctly.
- Ensure the archiving of employee files is up to date and done accurately.
- Co coordinating the clinic management
- Candidates who result orientated, good communication skills, with excellent administrative, coordination and management skills and have initiative and the ability to deliver quality outputs and reduce costs, will be most suitable for this position.
