Undergraduate Programme Manager
Introduction

A vacancy exists for an Undergraduate Programme Manager, reporting to the Academic Affairs Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and managing the implementation of and reviewing of undergraduate HEQSF aligned nursing programmes to ensure that competent and qualified nurses are available to meet the business needs.

Critical Outputs

Effective governance

  • Responsible for reporting on teaching, learning and assessment to meet regulatory and College governance requirements

Effective implementation management of nursing education programmes (theory and work integrated learning).

  • Responsible for academic programme planning and scheduling: theory, work integrated learning, professional development for teaching, learning and assessments in line with business needs and legislative requirements.
  • Coordination of programme’s implementation aligned to the accredited curriculum [theory & WIL].
  • Responsible for development and review of policies & WPs as planned for learning, teaching and assessment by AFM.
  • Responsible to plan, disseminate and review the student onboarding and induction programme.
  • Accountable for programme implementation quality assurance: Setting up and moderating Moodle sites; lesson planning: Subject delivery sessions with educators for standardisation, monitor programme delivery (contact, digital and simulation, clinical) with subject coordinators against the accredited curriculum to meet the theoretical and WIL programme outcomes.
  • Monitor research project integration into the programmes.
  • Responsible for resource material finalisation and review.
  • Responsible for reporting on the utilisation of electronic platforms making fit for purpose recommendations, in consultation with e-learning and IT
  • Accountable to coordinate the student feedback from theory and work integrated learning to support quality improvement in T, L & A.

Effective programme review

  • Responsible to review programmes – concurrently [modules] and retrospectively.
  • Accountable for inclusion of updated clinical practices into the programmes.

Effective relationship building with internal and external stakeholders

  • Responsible for maintaining productive relationships with Learning Centre teams and Nursing Practice.
  • Responsible for own involvement in professional association/education stakeholders with the aim of improving the quality of education at college. 

Effective management of assessments

  • Responsible to coordinate the assessment planning and processes [internal and external stakeholders].
  • Responsible to Coordinate the external and internal moderation processes according to policy.
  • Responsible for coordinating the legal and ethical dissemination of student results.
  • Responsible for monitoring student pass rates, progression rates, through put rates and attrition rates.
  • Responsible for coordinating moderation and marker reports from assessments to support quality improvement in T, L & A.

Effective people development

  • Participate in educator facilitation evaluation for professional development.
  • Participate in educator development opportunities [eg. Workshops, CPD development].
  • Participate in educator onboarding.

Supporting a research culture

  • Participate in the College research strategy.
Requirements
  • Relevant undergraduate degree in nursing
  • Nursing education qualification recorded on SANC e-Register
  • Nursing related masters’ degree
  • Management qualification
  • Additional Qualification in a clinical nursing speciality recorded on SANC e-Register
  • At least 5 years’ experience in an education/facilitation position
  • Current registration with the South African Nursing Council
  • Understanding of the nursing education and higher education landscape, private healthcare industry, its challenges and role players
  • Computer proficiency
  • Driver’s license and ability to travel
