Introduction

A vacancy exists for a Sessional Dietician based at Life Nkanyisa Siyathuthuka Care Centre situated at Belfast, Mpumalanga. This position will report directly to the Hospital Manager. The successful candidate will contribute towards the effective functioning of the unit and be part of a dynamic interdisciplinary team striving for the highest standards of quality in healthcare.

Critical Outputs
  • Provide dietetics clinical services to all patients admitted to Siyathuthuka Care Centre.
  • Conduct assessments and recommend specific diet plans to patients with e.g. neurological disorders such as TBI, CVA, SCI conditions or multi-morbidity conditions such as Guillain Barre, etc. in collaboration with other therapy disciplines.
  • Educate patients and their families about the patient’s condition, dietary requirements and healthy lifestyle management.
  • Contribute to weekly team and family meetings.
  • Keep accurate and timeous records and reports.
  • Effectively respond to queries and handle accordingly.
  • Professional therapy service implementation in accordance with Life Healthcare protocols and procedures.
  • Function effectively as a part of an interdisciplinary team to meet the requirements of quality patient care.
  • Attend and contribute towards Continuous Professional Development activities of the unit.
  • Promote and maintain sound and productive relationships with referral sources and stakeholders in the field of Rehabilitation.
Requirements
  • Grade 12
  • Degree in Dietetics and current HPCSA registration.
  • Experience in hospital-based dietetics management and enteral feeds prescription.
  • High level of competence in dietary prescription for patients with swallowing difficulties and other neurological conditions.
  • Experience in multi-disciplinary care.
  • Commitment to quality patient care and customer satisfaction.
  • Patient advocacy.
  • Experience and/or interest in mental health/ psychiatry field would be advantage.
  • Understanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges and role players would be an advantage.
  • Pre-employment integrity checks will be performed which include credit, criminal, identity and qualifications
  • Computer Proficiency
  • Driver’s license and ability and willingness to travel to different facilities on a weekly basis.
