Senior Business Manager
Introduction

A vacancy exists for a Senior Business Manager who will be responsible and accountable for the management of a designated portfolio at a regional level, and report to a Regional Business Manager. The Senior Business Manager will oversee a designated area of integrated clients and health solutions.

This role will oversee a segment of the provinces. And Business Managers who will report directly to the Senior Business Manager. The Senior Business Manager will be accountable to ensure that revenue, operational and contractual business objectives are met.

This includes management of the revenue targets, cost budgets, operational efficiencies, SLA’s and ensuring scope alignment as well as financial month to month management & performance. Growing & expanding the business; managing contracts according to the agreed-to service levels. Driving customer satisfaction and client retention; ensuring high levels of integrated service delivery & solutions are provided to all clients and clinics in the portfolio. The role will involve achieving the business objectives through effective teamwork, leveraging off existing & a network of interdependent teams & subject matter experts and clearly articulated communication for effective change and influence of existing & new teams.

Critical Outputs

 Functional Team Management

  • Manage a designated area within a region of Integrated Health Solutions.
  • Reporting directly to the Regional Business Manager.
  • Overseeing and managing a portfolio of Business Managers within the region.
  • Delivering a diverse set of integrated health solutions with a strategic intent of revenue diversification.
  • Maintaining high service levels amidst and existing set if diverse subject matter experts and affiliates.
  • Meeting reciprocal SLA requirements for both clients, internal and external stakeholders and service providers were requisite
  • Compiling, managing and deploying & executing on all new products Go to Market Strategy
  • Presentation skills and presentation development.

Effective Operations Management 

  • Ensuring the delivery of a quality service to our customers in alignment with our agreed contract and SLA obligations
  • Preparing and delivering consolidated reporting
  • Ensuring the portfolio of business managers areas performs at optimal levels
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly, half yearly and annual reporting for the respective functional units in alignment with budgeting, costing and business unit reporting requirements
  • Responsible for holistic Business Reporting as required for the designated area and that of the respective direct reports (Business Managers) area for both internal & external reporting
  • Deriving forecasting and budgeting in conjunction with the commercial and product teams for the execution of strategic objectives
  • Direct and continuous engagement with customers, relationship building and sustaining these relationships & improving the engagement across different levels, to foster cooperative relationships intended to optimally impact the delivery of an integrated wellness solution
  • Ensuring the requisite Customer Experience and Customer Satisfaction benchmarks are achieved from a customer service measurement perspective for the respective functions
  • Project manages all aspects of the assigned client portfolio in alignment with the requisite strategic objectives
  • Ensure monitoring, documentation, facilitation and direct engagement with customers for queries regarding health solutions & respond within a timely and appropriate manner
  • Responsible for the effective and timeous delivery of high-quality services to customers & ensuring reciprocity with all service providers with the intention of growing revenue and business growth
  • Manage and deliver integrated contract reviews that are consistent with the overall business, health and wellness strategy and/or SLA.

Effective Business Development and Relationship Management: 

  • Strategically build relationships with identified stakeholders within the client organization to deliver on an integrated wellness solution
  • Mining the area of allocation/node in ensuring the current & prospective client base is understood and maximised from a revenue perspective for designated area and that of the respective business managers
  • Actively identifying new business opportunities within the region supporting the LHS sales and marketing strategy
  • Achieving the business growth targets and retaining clients within the region, in line with the business strategy, by meeting short-, medium- and longer-term objectives
  • Responsible for integrated contract renewals, annual increases, and client retention of assigned functional portfolio
  • Strategically leading & executing, encourage and participation from all employees to achieve strategic objectives, source new and upselling & cross selling opportunities within assigned portfolio
  • Escalation of identified risks to the correct reporting lines and follow-through on remedial actions required
  • Understanding the competitor’s strategies and activity so as to ensure robust go-to-to-market strategies are executed in growing market share for the functional integrated solutions.
  • Design, manage, deploy & track the area’s revenue, retentions & efficiency plans in alignment regional and LHS sales strategies
  • Achieving the relevant revenue targets, service line revenue targets, cost budget targets for the respective areas, in alignment with the regional objectives
  • Ensuring an integrated revenue target achievement in alignment with an integrated service offering
  • Delivering all aspects of the marketing proof points in alignment with LHS & group Marcomms strategy for the respective functional business units/aspects
  • Planning, leading & ensuring and optimal management of business governance to achieve sound business ethics, risk management and control with appropriate transparency and controls
  • Strategically leading, guiding, organising and managing the functional teams & products to ensure teams receive the necessary information, infrastructure, logistics and functional support to achieve and meet their objectives
  • Demonstrating visible leadership in respect of the Life values operating model and strategy
  • Execute on directional employee career pathing and inspire positive work behaviors in line with Life and HS code of conduct and workplace culture in the respective functional teams

Governance and risk management

  • Ensure all functional teams and products are managed and monitored within the ambits of the first line of defense, audit, quality control, legal and compliance aspects of the area in alignment of the LHS legal and compliance universe and framework
  • Ensure and drive optimal management of business governance to achieve sound business ethics, risk management and control with appropriate transparency and control.
  • Manage compliance to the executive constraints as per corporate governance, report deviations and act where necessary for all functional teams and products Effective People Management
  • Devise and maintain a succession plan for key roles within the team
  • Ensure compliance with Group Human Resources Strategies, including but limited to diversity and transformation targets are met.
  • Conduct performance management appraisals with all employees within the team
  • Demonstrate visible leadership in respect of LHC values and strategy.
  • Provide direction and inspire positive work behavior in the department.
  • Recruit, retain, motivate, and develop employees according to Life Healthcare people policies and practices.
  • Implement skills development plan that enables opportunities identified in the strategic plan
  • Ensure that members of the team are sufficiently trained to achieve the targets set out.
Requirements

The following qualifications and experience are required:

  • A business degree/ or appropriate relevant qualification of NQF level 8.
  • At least 7-10 years’ experience in a health-related environment with some management experience in Occupational Health, Emergency Care and Wellness industry will be an advantage/ Integrated health solution
  • Experience in administration, financial, operations and human resource management (including communication and training).
  • Project Management experience would be an advantage
  • In addition, the post holder will be in possession of a valid Drivers License Code and have his/her own car to work across provinces, available for his/her use. The vehicle must be reliable and have adequate insurance as travel between client sites is required. Occasional overnight trips may occur.
  • The individual must be a good professional role model. He/she must have good organisation and management skills, be an effective communicator and motivator and have good interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literacy is essential.
