Introduction

A vacancy exists for Rehab Therapy Assistant at Nkanyisa Waverley Care Centre, in Germiston, reporting to the Physiotherapy. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing the therapeutic and the rehabilitation service to persons with physical and mental ailments at the facility. The candidate will be expected to function as a member of a multi-disciplinary team with aims to deliver a quality and cost-effective substance abuse treatment and the rehabilitation services.  

Critical Outputs
  • Ability to follow a treatment plan.
  • Identify clients at risk and follow the relevant reporting structure.
  • The ability to work in a team environment is essential.
  • Identifying and delivering on departmental KPI’s previous experience conducting group therapy
  • Monitor and oversee clients’ progress in the wards.
  • Maintenance of clinical documentation.
  • Assist clients to identify their need for treatment programs and convey this information to the interdisciplinary team.
  • Effectuate instructions of the inter-disciplinary team to assist clients to meet all the requirements of their identified treatment needs.
  • Be familiar with the multi-disciplinary team function within a clinical environment.
  • Crisis management.
  • Oversee and facilitate recreational activities for clients.
  • Active participation in CPD and outreach programs.
  • Support nursing team.
  • To ensure that all legislation, standards, and guidelines are met.
Requirements
  • Grade 12
  • Certified as a Physiotherapy Assistant. Registered with the HPCSA.is preferential.
  • Receipt of current registration.
  • Rehab experience is essential.
  • The ability to do individual and group rehabilitation is essential.
  • Previous mental health care and frail care treatment experience in a clinical environment would be an advantage.
