A vacancy exists for a Regional Education Manager, based at Port Elizabeth Learning Centre, reporting to Dr Adele Neethling, Academic Affairs Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for co-ordinating and managing the activities of the learning centre and its nursing education programs to ensure competent and qualified nurses are available to meet regional needs.

Ensuring effective management of nursing education programs (theory and practical) by
- Ensuring all programs presented are accredited with relevant authorities.
- Agreeing regional student numbers and planning learning programs and nurse educators accordingly.
- Driving 96% student pass rate and identifying and marketing talented external students to the region.
- Planning, co-ordinating and managing the learning centre graduation ceremony annually.
Ensure effective marketing and recruitment of students by
- Ensuring student numbers are achieved by marketing the Life Healthcare Nursing Education appropriately, ensuring all student documentation is available, completed and submitted to deadline and students are selected according to standard recruitment process and selection criteria.
Ensure effective people management by
- Demonstrating visible leadership in respect of LHC values, operating model and strategy.
- Actively sponsoring LHC initiatives and projects as they relate to the learning centre.
- Providing direction and inspiring positive work behaviour within the learning centre.
- Recruiting, retaining, motivating and developing staff according to LHC people policies and practices.
Ensure effective financial management by
- Ensuring administration surrounding payment of student fees is processed accordingly.
- Monitoring and managing overheads of learning centre in an efficient manner together with regional management and with appropriate governance.
Ensuring effective relationship management (internal and external) by
- Co-ordinating and participating in various regional and nursing management meetings, co-ordinating clinical forums monthly and attending and participating in SRC and student meetings where necessary.
- Ensuring productive relationships with regulatory bodies, participating in regional nursing education institution meetings, ensuring registration of nurse educators with the NEA and ensuring involvement of learning centre in community projects.
Ensure effective learning centre operations by
- Ensuring optimal functioning of learning centre, identifying problems and implementing remedial action where necessary.
Ensure effective quality systems management by
- Ensuring continued SANC accreditation by ensuring current SLA and situation analysis documents are in place.
- Ensuring evaluations are completed by students on nurse educators and/or nursing programs.
- Obtaining feedback from regional nursing management on quality of nurse training, identifying gaps and implementing remedial action where necessary.
Ensure Governance and risk management by
- Ensuring compliance to SANC, DOE & CHE regulatory processes and participating in internal and external audits, where necessary.
- Drive the Research agenda in the Learning Centre and Region.
- Requirements

Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in nursing.
- Diploma or degree: Nursing Education and Management.
Experience:
- At least five years’ experience in an education/facilitation position
- Current registration with South African Nursing Council.
- SANC Registration as an assessor and moderator.
- Sound knowledge of the education legislative environment with the focus on future changes.
- Understanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges and role players.
- Computer proficiency (MS Teams, Word, Excel, PPP, Outlook and Learner Management System)
- Driver’s license and ability to travel.
