A vacancy exists for a Receptionist in the Doctor’s Sessional Rooms based at Life Springs Parkland Hospital. To cheerfully attend to all incoming queries calls and assist all patients. To coordinate activities, manage the doctors’ sessional rooms and support the visiting specialists. Reporting to Elmien Barnard, Marketing and Communications Coordinator.
- Critical Outputs

- Schedule appointments, answer patient inquiries, handle patient emergencies
- Welcomes patients and visitors in person or on the telephone and answering or referring inquiries.
- Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
- Assist patients to complete all necessary forms and documentation including medical insurance
- Schedule hospital admissions, tests, scans and outside appointments for patients
- Assist with hospital bed and theatre bookings.
- Obtain necessary authorisation from medical aids for hospital admissions.
- Liaise between medical departments with discretion and professionalism
- Collect payments.
- Assist with billing processes.
- Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal, and financial information.
- Monitor minor stock and supplies at the session rooms
- Maintaining the reception area.
- Maintains operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes.
- Assist with other tasks as assigned by the Line manager
- Requirements
-
- Grade 12.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Any Additional qualification in Administration will be an advantage.
- Nursing background will be an advantage.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Receptionist/Secretarial Position will be an advantage.
- Experience in a Healthcare Environment will be advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office is critical with advanced Excel Skills.
- High performance orientation, independence as well as a team player, functional proficiency, initiative and an ability to meet deadlines is essential for this position as is attention to detail and good communication.
