Introduction

A vacancy exists for a Quality Manager based at Life Beacon Bay Hospital reporting to the Hospital Manager and Regional Manager Exec, Mathews Moavodi. The successful candidate will be the custodian, together with the Hospital Manager/Regional Manager Exec, of the Integrated Quality and Environmental Management system and its effectiveness, and for coordinating quality efforts in support of the hospital management team.

Critical Outputs
  • Ensure the hospital quality and environmental sustainability objectives and targets are reviewed annually and aligned to the Group objectives.
  • Communicate the quality and environmental sustainability targets and focus areas to the hospital management and staff.
  • Conduct training within the hospital to ensure that management and staff understand the quality and environmental requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments on an annual basis, together with HOD’s and Unit managers, in accordance with legal requirements.
  • Conduct environmental aspect/impact assessment together with the Engineering/Services Manager.
  • Manage reporting, investigation and close out any quality and environmental incidents and deviations in conjunction with Heads of Departments.
  • Measure performance against the quality objectives, evaluate the results and take/coordinate corrective action where necessary, together with relevant hospital Heads of Department.
  • Ensure that quality data is accurately recorded, the statistics analysed and trends and risks identified.
  • Generate the hospital quality scorecard and monthly quality reports.
  • Collate presentation and communicate the feedback on quality trends, risks, incidents and corrective action taken at hospital Quality Review Meetings.
  • Guide the Hospital Manager on safety related issues in order to ensure that the legal requirements are adhered to for staff safety; and that employee injuries and occupational disease are reported.
  • Coordinate the hospital Health & Safety Committee meetings, and ensure all legal appointments are made and legal requirements adhered to.
  • Together with the Infection prevention specialist/coordinator ensure that the disposal of waste within the hospital meets quality and environmental regulations and standards.
  • Manage the hospital Emergency and Disaster Plan and practices.
  • Monitor and ensure governance of the quality document control process within the hospital.
  • Participate in the internal and external audit review process, coordinate the corrective action and close out any findings related to quality and environment with the relevant Heads of Department.
  • Monitor and report on actions taken on trends identified through Patient Experience Management and Customer Relationship management system.
  • Support and participate in Patient Experience initiatives.
Requirements
  • Degree or Diploma in Nursing or similar
  • At least 5 years experience in a healthcare environment
  • Management experience in advantageous
  • Computer proficiency essential
  • Excellent knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation
  • Current registration with the South African Nursing Council, if applicable
  • Management experience advantageous
  • Understanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges and role players
