Introduction

A vacancy exists for a Porter, based at Life Diagnostic Imaging East Coast, reporting to the Support Services Manager, Sharon Redgard. The successful candidate will become part of a professional team that continuously strives for the highest standards of quality in Life Healthcare. The successful candidate will be responsible for the employee will be responsible for transferring patients between the wards and the X-Ray department as per schedule, as well as performing ad hoc duties when required.

Critical Outputs
  • Fetch and return patients to relevant Wards.
  • All ward patients scheduled for procedures are correctly identified and collected from and returned to the wards timeously.
  • Whiteboard schedule is maintained and checked throughout the day
  • Fetching stock from the Pharmacy.
  • Deliver reports to wards and Doctor’s suites timeously and delivered to correct destination.
  • Health and Safety adhered to. 
  • All work areas, passages and wheelchairs / gurneys are kept clean, neat and tidy.
  • Any other tasks as allocated by the line manager.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Experience within a healthcare environment including people management and customer service experience
  • Available to rotate to another x-ray facility at short notice
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Understanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges and role players would be an advantage
  • Computer proficiency
  • Excellent communication and Interpersonal skills a prerequisite.
  • Experience in dealing with patients.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology will be advantageous
  • Ability to receive instruction from management, nursing and radiography professionals
  • Be compassionate and of good temperament
  • Teamwork is essential
  • Ability to work independently when needed
  • Reliable and honest
