A vacancy exists for a Locum Pharmacist Assistant Post Basic Qualified (Permanent On Demand) in our Pharmacy Department based at Life Bayview Private Hospital reporting to Elmarie Marais, Senior Pharmacist. The successful candidate will mainly be responsible for functioning within the scope of practice of a Pharmacist Assistant after hours as well as during normal business hours as required, ensuring delivery of uncompromising quality care in line with Company strategic objectives and applicable Health/Nursing legislation.
- Critical Outputs

- Receiving, checking and unpacking stock, together with checking orders against invoices.
- Acquisition, control and distribution of stock to internal units.
- Ordering pharmaceutical stock, processing credits and stock transfers.
- Performing cycle counts and stock takes as well as capturing stock takes and investigating variances.
- Liaise with nursing staff and doctors regarding formulary and initiatives.
- Participate in facility’s quality program and initiatives.
- Dispensing, compounding under supervision of a pharmacist.
- Processing patient credits.
- Replacement of medication to the emergency cupboard.
- Dead stock management.
- Assist with other admin functions daily.
- Assist with daily ordering and management of stock
- Retail dispensing and cash up
- Requirements
-
- Registration as a Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant with the South African Pharmacy Council.
- Experience in a hospital pharmacy, especially a Life Healthcare Hospital, would be an advantage.
- Computer literacy is an essential requirement and knowledge of Impilo, Unisolve and SAP would be an advantage.
