A vacancy exists for a Financial Accountant at, Life Head Office reporting to Senior Financial Accountant. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the financial results of the business units in line with accounting standards and within corporate governance protocols in support of Life Healthcare objectives and strategy.
- Critical Outputs
-
- Preparing and capturing requisitions, orders and payments on SAP
- Close out on relevant exception reports
- Managing allocated creditors. Reconciling, processing and liaising with creditors and clinic as and when required, regarding queries on creditors.
- Prepare monthly recon files, managing the general ledger close and adhere to reporting deadlines
- Reviewing and reconciling of assigned petty cash accounts
- Reviewing and reconciling of assigned fleet card accounts
- Preparing accurate and complete accruals at month end
- Managing the fixed asset register including submission of capex request when required
- Assisting in reviewing and establishing adequate internal controls
- Assist the Finance Manager and Senior Financial Accountant with month-end, year-end and Capital Expenditure Reporting
- Prepare variance to budget as compared to prior period analysis, report on clinic performance, identify problem areas
- General admin duties, e.g. filing, taking of minutes, etc.
- Constantly striving to improve working methods to improve standardization and efficiencies
- Assisting with internal and external audit queries
- Ensure compliance, corporate governance, procedures and protocols
- Assist in special projects as requested by management
- Requirements
-
- A University Financial Degree or equivalent
- At least 5 years’ relevant experience and technical skills to meet the critical outputs
- SAP knowledge is essential
- Financial process understanding up to trial balance
- Computer proficiency in MS Office essential
- Ability to perform reconciliations
- Working well under pressure
- Attention to details regarding recons
- Deadline driven
- Required to work overtime – as and when required
