A position has become available for Dietician, based at Life St. Dominic’s Rehabilitation Unit, reporting to Carina Basset, Therapy Services Coordinator. Life Rehabilitation is part of an expanding network of rehabilitation units within Life Healthcare Group.
- Critical Outputs
-
- Provide dietetics clinical services to all patients admitted to Life Rehabilitation Unit, including on some weekends and public holidays.
- Conduct assessments and recommend specific diet plans to patients to patients with e.g. neurological disorders such as TBI, CVA, SCI, orthopaedic conditions or multi-morbidity conditions such as Guillain Barre, etc. in collaboration with other therapy disciplines.
- Educate patients and their families about the patient’s condition, dietary requirements and healthy lifestyle management.
- Contribute to weekly team and family meetings.
- Keep accurate and timeous records and reports.
- Effectively respond to queries and handle accordingly.
- Professional therapy service implementation in accordance with Life Healthcare protocols and procedures.
- Function effectively as a part of an interdisciplinary team to meet the requirements of quality patient care.
- Attend and contribute towards Continuous Professional Development activities of the unit.
- Supervise and train of university students, as required.
- Promote and maintain sound and productive relationships with referral sources and stakeholders in the field of Rehabilitation.
- Requirements
-
- Degree in Dietetics and current HPCSA registration.
- Experience in hospital-based dietetics management and enteral feeds prescription.
- High level of competence in dietary prescription for patients with swallowing difficulties, PEG, tracheostomies, SCI and other neurological conditions.
- Experience in multi-disciplinary care.
