Life Health Solutions is seeking for two qualified and dedicated Ambulance Emergency Assistant (AEA) to join our Occupational Health Services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing professional emergency medical services, emergency response support, and occupational healthcare assistance to contracted clients.
The incumbent will play a critical role in delivering high-quality pre-hospital emergency care, ensuring emergency preparedness, supporting clinic operations, and contributing to the effective functioning of a multidisciplinary healthcare team. This position requires a strong commitment to patient care, clinical excellence, operational readiness, and compliance with all regulatory and professional standards.

Emergency Medical Services
- Provide emergency medical response and patient care within the prescribed scope of practice.
- Conduct patient assessments and implement appropriate emergency medical interventions.
- Stabilise and manage patients during medical emergencies and workplace incidents.
- Facilitate the safe transportation of patients to appropriate healthcare facilities when required.
- Maintain readiness to respond to medical emergencies, trauma incidents, and occupational health emergencies.
- Participate in emergency preparedness exercises, drills, and response activities.
- Ensure emergency vehicles, equipment, and medical supplies always remain operationally ready.
- Deliver patient care in accordance with HPCSA guidelines, clinical protocols, and Life Health Solutions procedures.
- Maintain professionalism and uphold high standards of patient care and customer service.
Occupational Health and Clinic Support
- Support Occupational Health Clinics and Primary Healthcare Clinics with administrative and clinical duties as required.
- Assist with medical surveillance programmes, screenings, and occupational health initiatives.
- Support Occupational Health Practitioners, Primary Healthcare Nurses, and Medical Practitioners with clinic activities.
- Assist with health promotion, wellness campaigns, and employee awareness programmes.
- Provide first aid and emergency response support during occupational health events and site activities.
- Assist with the management of patient records and clinic documentation.
Financial and Operational Management
- Contribute to achieving site operational and budgetary objectives.
- Support cost-effective utilisation of resources and identify opportunities for operational efficiencies.
- Conduct daily inspections and operational checks of emergency vehicles, medical equipment, and emergency response resources.
- Report vehicle defects, equipment failures, and operational concerns promptly to the EMS Coordinator or Site Manager.
- Ensure proper segregation and disposal of medical waste in accordance with regulatory and organisational requirements.
- Maintain operational readiness and efficient utilisation of equipment and resources.
Stock and Resource Management
- Maintain emergency medical stock in accordance with approved stock levels and inventory procedures.
- Monitor stock usage and report stock shortages or discrepancies.
- Identify and report stock approaching expiry dates.
- Participate in stock counts, audits, and inventory control activities.
- Assist with ordering and replenishment of medical supplies and consumables.
- Maintain accurate drug registers and stock control documentation.
- Ensure emergency equipment is appropriately maintained, cleaned, and calibrated where applicable.
Clinical Governance and Compliance
- Deliver clinical care in accordance with established protocols, policies, and legal requirements.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and legally compliant patient care records.
- Utilise approved documentation, patient report forms, and clinical checklists.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and compliance reviews.
- Support readiness for internal, client, and regulatory audits.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health, safety, and infection prevention standards.
- Maintain current professional registration and continuous professional development requirements.
Quality Management
- Adhere to Life Health Solutions quality standards, policies, and procedures.
- Participate in quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor and contribute to the achievement of operational and service delivery targets.
- Ensure all reporting requirements are completed accurately and submitted within required timelines.
- Support adherence to ISO standards and organisational quality management systems.
Stakeholder and Relationship Management
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, employees, healthcare professionals, and external stakeholders.

- Requirements

- Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate).
- Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Ambulance Emergency Assistant (AEA).
- Current Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG) update.
- Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
- Valid Code 08 Driver's Licence.
- Previous experience in Emergency Medical Services, occupational health, mining, industrial, or healthcare environments will be advantageous.
- Sound knowledge of emergency medical care protocols and pre-hospital emergency care practices.
- Understanding of occupational health and safety legislation and workplace emergency response requirements.
- Good administrative, documentation, and record-keeping skills.
- Computer literacy and experience with electronic reporting systems will be advantageous.
- Willingness to work shifts, standby duties, and emergency response call-outs when required.
- Ability to assist within Occupational Health and Primary Healthcare Clinics during operational downtime.
- Required to assist at the occupational clinic and primary healthcare clinics during the shift.
