A Vacancy exists for a Rehab Clinical Specialist at the acute Rehabilitation Unit at Life Eugene Marais Hospital in Gauteng. The Life Rehabilitation at Life Eugene Marais Rehabilitation Unit is part of an expanding network of rehabilitation units within Life Healthcare. The post holder will report to the Therapy Services Coordinator. This job exists to create capacity within the clinical rehabilitation therapy team to develop and train therapists and to deliver excellence in clinical services. It also facilitates clinical leadership within the service. 

Critical Outputs
  • Coordination of comprehensive quality therapy delivery within rehabilitation service.
  • Leading clinical therapy team in developing and delivering an excellent rehabilitation service.
  • Creating a clinical environment conducive to service excellence and learning.
  • Training and mentoring to facilitate clinical skills development for all junior therapists.
  • Coordination of training activities within the unit, including all student training.
  • Managing change implementation with regards service delivery and patient care.
  • Supporting the therapy services coordinator in managing team towards service delivery compliance.
  • Coordinate research initiatives.
  • Close liaison with rehabilitation nursing team to co-ordinate service delivery.
  • Create a unit culture, which promotes business objectives, a performance / results orientation, customer focus and teamwork.
  • Ensuring compliance to the clinical, quality, efficiency and operational requirements.
  • Constructive liaison between the rehabilitation unit and other hospital functions.
  • Promote and maintain sound and productive relationships with referral sources and stakeholders in the field of Rehabilitation.
  • Active participation in national therapy management forum.
  • Fulfilling the requirements of the Rehab therapy position as per job specification (80%).
  • Grade 12 Senior Certificate.
  • The minimum requirement for this position is a degree in any of the therapy professions.
  • Qualified rehabilitation therapist with more than 5 years of neurological rehabilitation experience, preferably in a team environment.
  • Proven and recognised further training within their profession in the field of rehabilitation.
  • Proven interest in developing skills and in involvement in professional development opportunities, including attendance and involvement in congresses and skills courses.
  • Experience in student training for relevant profession.
  • Clinical skills in adult neurological rehabilitation.
  • Teaching skills and mentorship capacity.
  • Strong communication skills and ability.
  • Initiative and interest in creative service development.
  • Organised, results-driven and team-oriented.
  • High level of drive and motivation, with ability to instill motivation in team-members.
