Introduction

A vacancy exist for a Rehab Attendant based at Life Eugene Marais Rehabilitation Unit, reporting to Rehabilitation Therapy Services Coordinator.
Critical Outputs
  • Ensure excellent patient and customer care in accordance with Life Standards.
  • Build effective relationships with patients, doctors and other medical personnel to ensure quality patient care.
  • Conduct basic ward duties as allocated by Therapy Services Coordinator.
  • Maintain all Health, Safety and Infection Control Standards.
  • Set-up of rehabilitation space.
  • Prepare, clean and tidy gym area and equipment as required.
  • Ensure that equipment in the GYM is functional and in good working order.
  • Assisting therapists with exercises, group therapy, mobility exercises, ADL, patient transfers.
  • Helping with independence training.
  • Support nursing staff (under the instruction and supervision of nursing staff); assist with patient bathing, self-care, and mouth care.
  • Assist with feeding patients.
  • General support: preparation of bed space prior admission, stocking of linen trolleys and filling of water bottles.
Requirements
  • A Matric certificate.
  • Minimum 3 months training caregiver with a recognized institution, preferably with post training rehabilitation experience.
  • Good communication skills with diverse customers.
  • Experience as Caregiver in a private hospital set up will be an advantage.
  • The successful candidate will be required to work Day Duty, hours depending on ward requirements.
