A vacancy has risen for a Professional Nurse at Waverley Care Centre reporting to Unit Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensure quality patient care and participate in rehabilitation programs of mental health care patients.
- Critical Outputs

Effective ward operations through:
- Daily Care Rounds to be done, ensuring patient satisfaction is enhanced.
- Provide accurate, appropriate, and adequate information to patients and family members.
- Ensure professional ethical practice in the Unit.
- Provide and supervise individualized, specific nursing care.
- Participating in CPD programs, in-service training, and on the spot teaching
- Maintaining quality patient care standards.
- Effective relationship with MDT members and customers.
- Participation in rehabilitation and climate meetings.
- Practicing and ensuring compliance on hospital policies, procedures and protocols.
- Ensuring records and accurately completed and stored in accordance with legal and ethical requirements.
Ensuring effective people management by:
- Interacting and communicating with a multi-disciplinary team
- Provide training and development to ensure personal and professional growth.
- Supervising lower categories
- Running in-service trainings and ward meetings.
- Assist UM in controlling absenteeism and abuse of sick leave in the ward.
- Delegating juniors and ensure task completion.
Effective governance and risk management by:
- Ensure correct use of stock and equipment.
- Maintain effective control of patient’s consumables.
- Ensure safe environment for patients and employees.
- Make sure employees are using and handling PPE correctly.
- Ensuring low rate of incidents.
- Requirements
-
- Grade 12/NSC
- Must be a Registered Nurse and be registered with SANC.
- Experience in Chronic Psychiatry/rehabilitation will be an advantage.
- Must be able to work under pressure in a constantly changing environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.
- Must be willing to fulfil a role in the ward according to the flexi-hours system and workday and night duty.
- Other competencies required: Strong customer orientation, team player, very energetic, well organized and enjoy working with Psychiatric patients.
