A vacancy exists for a Senior Radiographer, based at the practice next to Life St Mary's Private Hospital in Mthatha, who will be responsible for the on-site supervision of the team in Mthatha, reporting to the Head Radiographer, Leota Blignaut.
The successful candidate will be responsible to oversee the day-to-day activities of diagnostic imaging departments as well as all aspects relating to people management. They will work closely with physician/s in a health care facility to evaluate patients and monitor their progress. This position is a dual role of a management position and will perform clinical work as a radiographer.
- Critical Outputs

- Drive and manage all people related policies and processes including managing patient complaints/and compliments; scheduling of staff rosters, hospital allocation, managing leave etc
- Ensure all employees are aware and compliant to the policies and procedures of human resources and operations
- Ensure equipment is in working order to provide a safe patient environment
- Ordering of contrast and materials
- Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders (i.e. HOD’s, Enabling functions, patients, family members, service providers etc.) through ongoing communication and feedback
- Drive and manage all people related processes including managing patient complaints/and compliments
- Participate in business planning and budgeting processes and manage costs
- Prepare patients for radiology examinations or procedures for which they are scheduled
- Keep up-to-date with current techniques and developments in radiographic and imaging procedures and drive in-service training and completion of CPD’s for all radiographers and other employees
- Be responsible for the training and development of the radiographer team
- Maintain good working relationships with colleagues and with non-radiographic staff, both in the radiology Department and elsewhere in the hospital/offices
- Take part in routine daily inspection of equipment and quality assurance procedures
- Maintain acceptable levels of health and safety, and report all deviation to procedure to Management
- Requirements

- Degree in Diagnostic Radiography
- Be registered with HPCSA
- Have at least 5 year’s general diagnostic radiography experience
- CT, MRI and Mammography experience is an advantage
- Proven experience of managing people for at least 3 years
- Both public and private healthcare experience will be considered
- An ability to communicate verbally and in writing to present information to both clinical and non-clinical persons
- Excellent computer literacy in all MS office packages
- Own transport and a valid driver’s license with the ability to travel is essential
