Pre-Admissions Clerk
Introduction

A vacancy exists for a Pre-Admission Clerk who will be responsible to assist with admission of patients and administrative related duties. This role reports to the Reception Supervisor, Brigitt Raffie. The successful candidate will contribute to the effective functioning of the admission department and will be responsible for the pre-admission of patients and ensure that patients have approved authorisation.

Critical Outputs

Perform pre-admission  duties :

  • Confirm medical aid benefits and scheme rules
  • Confirm, capture and verify patient demographics and medical aid details
  • Mitigating the risk of potential bad debts
  • Identify financial risks pro-actively and communicate these to the patient and internal risk chain as per protocol.
  • Handle and manage the continuous flow of information between doctor’s rooms, patient, medical schemes,and other service providers.
  • Inform the patient of requirements for hospitalisation
  • Positive identification of all patients
  • Scanning of all relevant documents
  • Determination of waiting periods if any
  • Compile estimates for private patients
  • Improve patient satisfaction and patient centricity
  • Relieve in Admissions Department and work flexible hours as required
  • Marketing of the Pre-Admission Clinic with doctors and patients
  • General administration duties as will be required from time to time.
  • Maintain administrative records to the system and report statistics when required
Requirements
  • Grade 12 and computer literacy.
  • Knowledge of Imeds and Impilo
  • An enthusiastic, motivated, and well organized individual with initiative and able to handle pressure.
  • Customer Service oriented.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a prerequisite.
  • Teamwork essential.
  • Prior knowledge and experience of admissions and medical terminology.
