Introduction

A vacancy exists for a Pharmacy Manager based at Life Cosmos Hospital, Mpumalanga, reporting to Jackie Simonato, Hospital Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of the Pharmacy services within the hospital environment by ensuring that quality pharmaceutical services, financial objectives, legislative compliance and people management requirements are achieved to the required standards.

Critical Outputs

Effective medication safety management 

  • Implement Pharmacy best operating practice related to medication safety management with the objective of reducing medication incidents to below target

Effective quality management 

  • Drive the Antimicrobial Stewardship and Clinical Pharmacy Programs in the hospital
  • Drive the implementation and compliance to LHC Quality management systems
  • Ensure compliance with SAPC, DOH and LHC legal and professional standards
  • Achieve required customer service levels and drive improvement

Effective financial management 

  • Achieve hospital budgeted financial measures relating to pharmacy
  • Actively manage the cost of sales of pharmaceuticals in line with revenue and budget
  • Communicate and implement LHC pharmaceutical product conversions and cost saving opportunities
  • Build effective working relationships with doctors and the multifunctional hospital team
  • Drive identified growth opportunities
  • Achieve stock targets

Effective people management 

  • Recruit, retain, motivate and develop pharmacy staff
  • Provide direction and inspire positive work behaviour in team
Requirements
  • B.Pharm / Dip.Pharm / B.Sc Pharm, and current registration with South African Pharmacy Council
  • Relevant private hospital experience
  • Understanding of relevant legislation, operating structures and relationships within a hospital environment
  • Proven leadership and people management experience
  • Computer proficiency (MS office)
