A vacancy exists for a Pharmacist Assistant (Sessional), based at Life Carstenhof Hospital, reporting to the Senior Pharmacist. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the quality pharmaceutical services, financial objectives, legislative compliance, and people management requirements are achieved to the required standards.
- Critical Outputs

- Supplying of medication to the wards and theatre on requisitions and assist with management of all pharmaceuticals within the hospital under supervision of a pharmacist
- Controlling inventory (ethical and surgical).
- Assisting in aggressively managing dead stock in the hospital.
- Stock-take, cycle counts and investigation of variances
- Processing of patient credits.
- Replenishing the emergency cupboard.
- Unpacking ethical and surgical stock, checking expiries and invoices
- Ensuring that the security protocols are adhered to.
- Maintaining high ethical and professional standards.
- Requirements
-
- Grade 12 with Mathematics and Life Sciences
- Qualification as a Post Basic Pharmacist assistant and registration with the Pharmacy Council
- Relevant clinical knowledge and experience to the critical outputs
- Understanding of pharmacy and related healthcare industry, legislation, regulation and challenges
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical legislation
- Pharmaceutical product knowledge
- Computer proficiency (MS office)
- Competent in using Unisolve ®
- Knowledge of SAP advantageous
- Preference will be given to applicants who are not be permanently employed anywhere.
