Pharmacist Assistant

A vacancy exists for a Pharmacist Assistant based at Life Wilgers Hospital, reporting to the Pharmacy Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the quality pharmaceutical services, financial objectives, legislative compliance and people management requirements are achieved to the required standards.

Critical Outputs
  • Receiving, checking and unpacking stock, together with checking orders against invoices.
  • Acquisition, control and distribution of stock to internal units.
  • Ordering of surgical and pharmaceutical stock, processing of credits and stock transfers.
  • Performing cycle counts and stock takes as well as capturing stock takes, investigating variances.
  • Liaise with nursing staff and doctors re formulary and initiatives.
  • Participate in facility’s quality programmes and initiatives.
  • Dispensing, compounding under supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Providing information re correct use of medication.
  • Registration with SAPC as post basic pharmacists assistant.
  • Proof of completion of post-basic course.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are very important as good relationships with doctors, hospital staff and suppliers are essential.
  • Computer literacy is essential.
  • A figure orientated person, with high attention to detail and strong performance orientation complete the profile of the ideal candidate.
  • Candidate needs to be fully vaccinated.
  • A min of two years hospital experience as a Pharmacist assistant.
  • SAP experience will be advantageous.
