A vacancy exists for a CSSD Manager, based at Life Westville Hospital, reporting to the Theatre Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the CSSD and ensure the efficient and effective processing of surgical instruments and supplies.
- Critical Outputs
-
- Lead and supervise CSSD staff to ensure quality and productivity standards are met.
- Coordinate daily operations, including workflow, inventory management and supply chain logistics
- Implement and maintain infection control and sterilization protocols
- Conduct quality control checks on sterilized equipment and supplies
- Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure timely delivery of instruments and supplies
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures for CSSD operations
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and risk management activities
- Maintain accurate records and reports
- Effective Sheq management by Ensuring the use of personal protective clothing and complying with ISO requirements
- Ensuring the disposal of medical waste in order to effectively control infection
- Effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders
- Attend review and consultative form meetings to maintain healthy relationships
- Maintain a healthy relationship with external stakeholders by reporting and escalating unresolved issues to the unit manager
- Requirements

- Matric
- Relevant Degree or Diploma in Nursing
- Theatre Experience required with minimum 5 years’ experience.
- Current registration with SANC
- Previous experience in managing a CSSD department would be highly advantageous
- Knowledge of Sterility assurance processes will be an advantage.
- Flexibility relating to working hours
- Ability to work under pressure and attention to detail
- Previous staff management and conflict management experience will be an advantage.
