Clinical Manager | Mental Health Services
Introduction

A vacancy has arisen for a Clinical Manager: Mental Health Services at Life Nkanyisa Head Office, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer. The suitable candidate will be responsible for providing overall clinical governance, oversight and support for all mental health services, including acute Mental Health and Life Nkanyisa, to meet company clinical and strategic objectives.

Critical Outputs

Ensuring Quality patient care by

  • Demonstrating visible leadership as a mental health subject matter expert in respect of quality patient care
  • Ensuring adherence to clinical standards and protocols and drug formularies
  • Ensuring various clinical quality targets are achieved and monthly reporting where necessary
  • Development and implementation of Life Healthcare-specific clinical protocols, aligned to evidence-based practice
  • Ensuring ongoing competence of all medical practitioners and professionals through continuous training and continuing professional development programmes

Ensuring focused risk assessment and management by

  • Ensure medico-legal compliance and alignment of the Mental Health Care Act
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of a risk-based quality management system
  • Ensuring appropriate clinical governance and recommend corrective action as needed
  • Conduct risk assessments as needed, including investigation of serious reportable events
  • Leading monthly M&M meetings and ensure participation from all to meet strategic objectives.

Ensuring business efficiency and sustainability by

  • Actively participating in clinical efficiency
  • Develop efficiency reports for all Psychiatrists
  • Participating in the development of value-based mental health care products and alternative reimbursement models to sustain the mental health business

Productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders by

  • Building and maintaining productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders through ongoing formal and informal communication and networking sessions.
  • Implement and sustain quarterly Clinical Review Panel for Psychiatrists and other Medical Mental Health Practitioners
  • Funder engagement where necessary

Ensuring effective leadership and people management by

  • Demonstrating visible leadership in respect of company values, operating model and strategy.
  • Actively sponsor Company initiatives and projects as they relate to clinical care.
  • Providing direction and inspire positive work behaviour.
  • Recruiting, retaining and motivating professionals according to company people policies and practices
Requirements
  • Mental Health medical practitioner and current HPCSA registration.
  • Post-graduate qualification in management will be advantageous Proven leadership experience in a similar position within a healthcare environment
  • Understanding of the private and public healthcare industry, its challenges and role players will be advantageous
  • Computer proficiency
  • Driver’s license and ability to travel
