Introduction

A vacancy exists for a Clinic Manager, based at Life New Kensington, reporting to Chris van Wyk, Regional Manager. Life Brackenview is a 42-bed adult rehabilitation unit, a sub-acute unit for clients needing convalescent care and a 10-bed paediatric rehabilitation unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for meeting the needs of the internal and external customers through the execution of the LHC and hospital strategic and operational objectives in growth, quality & people by leading, managing and co-ordinating all hospital activities.

Critical Outputs

Ensuring effective quality systems management by

  • Implementing and improving quality standardized metrics
  • Ensuring compliance to clinical benchmarking initiatives in order to retain ISO certification
  • Identifying problems utilizing the root cause analysis and implement necessary remedial action

Ensuring effective hospital operations management by

  • Implementing and developing best operating practices and strategic business plans in order to optimize the functioning of hospital operations

Ensuring effective people management by

  • Actively sponsoring initiatives and demonstrate visible leadership skill in order to improve productivity and support change
  • Actively leading and managing hospital feedback meetings in order to achieve strategic objectives
  • Developing a resourcing plan in order to recruit talented staff in accordance with agreed time periods, taking into account company transformation objectives
  • Providing direction and inspire positive work behaviour
  • Developing and manage training plans for each department in order to facilitate talent development
  • Managing performance ratings for all staff through the performance improvement process
  • Ensuring all transactional processing is managed by the relevant department head in order to provide employee compensation and benefits
  • Ensuring productive working relationships are supported with minimum IR issues
  • Ensuring all exit interviews are conducted in order to ensure the retention of critical and talented professional staff

Ensuring effective relationship management with doctors by

  • Developing retention strategies and attract doctors in order to maintain mutually beneficial relationships

Ensuring effective implementation of marketing strategy (including growth) by

  • Developing and understand competitor strategies in order to effectively market the hospital
  • Positioning projects within local communities in order to ensure the hospital is visible

Ensuring the achievement of  the hospital financial targets by

  • Preparing and monitor annual budgets with management in order to implement corrective actions as required
  • Planning and delivering Capex projects on time and within the specified budget
  • Identifying, developing and marketing new business opportunities
  • Supporting activities in order to maximize revenue generation
  • Managing the cost of sales and overheads effectively in order to reduce cost

Ensuring the governance and risk management by

  • Preparing annual risk assessments and progress reviews in order to achieve sound business ethics and risk management
Requirements
  • MBBCh and/or relevant business degree
  • Rehab experience and clinical training in related specialty will be beneficial.
  • Proven leadership and general business management experience (including financial management and business planning processes) within a healthcare environment
  • Knowledge of the private healthcare industry, its challenges and role players including an understanding of the relevant legislation
  • Computer proficiency
  • Driver’s license and ability to travel
