Introduction

The vacancy assists for a Business Intelligence Analyst  based at Life Head Office dunkeld, reporting to the Business Reporting Manager. The incumbent will be pivotal in driving and embedding analytics and business intelligence within Life Healthcare. This role is responsible for extracting hidden insights from data, developing compelling visualizations, and informing strategic decisions using statistical techniques. 

Critical Outputs
  • Design and develop reports and dashboards efficiently.
  • Test and validate reports and dashboards.
  • Should have knowledge and understanding of all the relevant areas of Data: Data Modelling, Data Engineering, Visualization and Reporting.
  • Lead, manage quality assurance standards and implementation in the BI environment.
  • Use initiative and sound judgment within established procedural guidelines.
  • Work independently to analyze problems and implement solutions.
  • Organize and prioritize the work schedule and handle multiple priorities.
  • Receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and be fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit.
  • Conceptualise, design and develop data visualisation solutions that synthesise data concepts into actionable insights for key business stakeholders, with a strong visual narrative.
  • Support the Business Reporting Manager in driving a shift in reporting focus from static reports and spreadsheets to dynamic reports and dashboards with high visual impact.
  • Support the Business Reporting Manager in driving business stakeholder adoption of insights-driven decision making and business process innovation.
  • Engage with business stakeholders to raise awareness of the power of (Visual) Analytics directly within LHC.
  • Work closely with business users, vendors and delivery teams to understand the business requirements that drive the analysis and design of business analytics and reporting solutions and deliver insights that the target audience needs for action.
  • Bring deep expertise in data visualisation tools and techniques to translate business analytics needs into data visualisation and semantic data access requirements.
  • Drive the development of and adherence to data visualisation standards.
  • Provide technical direction and oversee testing of business analytics solutions.
  • Lead testing to ensure business analytics solutions meet user specifications.
  • Evaluate new visualisation tools and research best practices for presenting insights in reports, dashboards and slide presentations.
  • Participate in POC projects and provide business analytics solutions recommendations.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, analytics, and subject matter experts to identify practical and strategically relevant insights.
Requirements

Educational Background:

  • Relevant Degree or Diploma

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in an analytics and business intelligence environment.
  • Proven experience using statistical techniques.
  • Proficiency in developing reports and dashboards using tools like Power BI and SQL Reporting Services.
  • Healthcare industry experience is a strong advantage.

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced capabilities in Power BI and SQL.
  • Strong understanding of data architecture, modelling, engineering, visualization, and reporting.
  • Familiarity in programming languages such as R and Python will be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with data solutions and relevant analytics tools.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interface and communicate effectively with all levels of users.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret complex problems across multiple business areas.
  • Ability to translate complex analytical concepts into understandable information for business stakeholders.
