Architecture and Data Governance Manager

Architecture and Data Governance Manager, reporting to the Head: Data. The successful candidate will be responsible for the ongoing design of Life Healthcare’s data architecture and for designing and overseeing the framework for the governance of clinical and non-clinical data essential to operations and the analytics functions that inform strategy.

Critical Outputs
  • Ensure that Life Healthcare can drive business value through analytics built on a solid data platform.
  • Design and maintain the data management framework and define data flows.
  • Translate business requirements into data management framework specifications.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with business, data engineers and analytics team.
  • Develop, manage and update data quality and governance standards, ensuring that these cater adequately for security, integrity and useability of data throughout the LHC data ecosystem and are widely disseminated and well understood by users.
  • Manage the LHC information life-cycle.
  • Adhere to global best practices and keep up-to-date with data governance developments.
  • Through direct reports, oversee the following:
    • Configuration of information systems to ensure optimal functionality.
    • Testing and integration of new elements to improve system performance.
    • Migration of data from legacy to new systems, when required.
    • Development of new and improvements to existing database structures and systems.
    • Provision of support to resolve system problems.
    • Definition of security and backup protocols.
    • Managing data access in line with data classification and governance standards, putting in place and enforcing the authorisation and authentication of users and data access levels.
    • Creation, maintenance and facilitation of access to metadata.
    • Management of sources of reference information for both internal and external providers.
    • Provision of data support to the user community.
    • Resolution of data quality issues.
  • Minimum Honour’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics or a related field, or equivalent qualification
  • 7+ years of experience in a data environment, with 3+ years’ management experience and strong proficiency in data architecture and governance.
  • 3+ years experience in cloud-based data environments, a strong recommendation with expertise in MS Azure.
  • Excellent understanding and command of SQL and T-SQL.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of hardware (including servers) and software.
  • Excellent understanding of data architecture and expertise in the design and construction of architectures that facilitate integrated data systems, supporting strategic analytical work.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret complex problems or processes that span multiple business areas, identify and understand requirements, and develop alternate solutions.
  • Healthcare experience will be a strong advantage.
