A way of life
Set in the quieter part of Kensington, the 96 bed clinic has a patient friendly layout which has been specifically renovated for the maximisation of the rehabilitation patient. Modern facilities and equipment support the quality care provided by the clinic’s staff. Patients are assured of quality, cost-effective care, as the well-being of patients is the main concern of both management and staff.
In response to the demand for private Rehabilitation facilities to meet the needs of the communities of Southern and Eastern Gauteng, Afrox Healthcare transferred their already existing Acute Rehabilitation Facility from Braamfontein to the Life New Kensington Clinic in November 2000.
All staff participate in Life Healthcare’s total quality management programme, proof of their commitment to continuously improve on service. We have established patient care programmes which utilise best practice and ensure that the client needs are met.

Rehabilitation / Sub-Acute Facilities

Each unit employs their own therapists for the rehabilitation programmes. Our multidisciplinary team includes a full-time rehabilitation doctor, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, social workers, neuropsychologists, and dieticians.

Accommodation at our hospital is designed for the maximisation of the Rehabilitation process.
We do supply T.V.s in all of our Acute Rehabilitation wards.
A choice menu is available with a dietician supervising the correct foods for the type of condition suffered from.
A Rehabilitation Admissions Consultant will assess you prior to your admission to the hospital and will make all the necessary arrangements with your medical aid. This applies for both the acute and sub-acute units.
We go to great lengths re discharge planning in these units, as it is vital for rehabilitated patients to have the necessary back up on discharge. When leaving, do not forget to collect your medication and x-rays. Your accounts will be updated continually by our credit controller and your medical aid or the family member responsible for your account will be notified regularly.
In keeping with our goal to continue providing high quality care; we monitor our service to patients on an ongoing basis. On discharge patients are asked to complete a questionnaire regarding their stay at the hospital. Participation is voluntary, but this will assist the hospital management to address any problems and improve our service to you.

Our hospital charges patients a global fee medical aid / medical scheme rates.
A prepayment is required on hospitalisation, from patients not covered by medical aid or a medical scheme.
It is recommended that private patient’s families contact the hospital’s accounts department prior to admission to establish the estimated hospital cost.
We welcome all of our patients` visitors, as we know what a difference the support of close family and friends can make.
In light of this, we also have to be aware of the rest that all of our patients require and we have thus provided for visitors to visit our hospitals only at certain designated times and these are:

Our departmental managers, charge sisters, charge therapist and case admissions manager all serve as a link between the hospital, patients, doctors and staff. Should you need any assistance please contact the officer at the reception desk of our hospital who will direct you to the appropriate person for information. If you are from out of town, there is accommodation near the hospital for family members.
Special arrangements will be made by the therapy team when families are required to participate in therapy sessions, attend family meetings, or receive caregiver training.
