All Life Midmed Hospital staff participate in ongoing quality training ‘Q to the power of e’. Here we each come to appreciate the importance of quality in delivery of service and to embrace caring principles of empathy, ethics, excellence, energy and empowerment.
Results of ongoing patient satisfaction surveys tell us that a stay at Life Midmed Hospital reflects the high standards of health and care we set out to deliver.
The care delivered at Life Midmed Hospital extends into the community.
Our employees at all levels actively participate in community initiatives to improve the quality of life in surrounding areas.

Little Life facilities
The birth of a baby is one of the most significant life experiences for a woman and her partner. At Life Midmed Hospital, the best medical care and personal attention ensures that this event is memorable, enjoyable and as trouble free as possible.
Top gynaecologists and paediatricians based at Life Midmed Hospital ensure that a mother and her baby remain in good health throughout pregnancy, during labour and after birth.
In addition, Life Midmed Hospital is home to the latest technology and state-of-the-art equipment, including a special Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for special-needs babies.
We want to make sure that you and your baby`s stay with us is as comfortable and relaxing as possible. We assure you right from the outset, our staff will help you in every way to enjoy this wonderful experience. To help you feel more confident about the delivery of your baby, Sr. Bettie van Aarde and her team will help you with the bed bookings and assist with the necessary information with your bed booking on 35 week.
For your own peace of mind, please check with your medical aid regarding the benefits available for your confinement.
In order to speed up the admission process, we request you to go to Preadmission, on the ground floor, (open Monday to Friday between 08h00 and 16h00) from 35 weeks into your pregnancy, in order to complete the necessary documentation for your forthcoming admission. We need copies of the ID`s of both the parents.
Preadmissions: 013 283 8700 or Bianca.Davies@lifehealthcare.co.za
If your Medical aid requires a preauthorisation number, please bring this with you too. Kindly note that should you have a 3rd generation birth as a medical aid patient – you are required to please inform the hospital / pre-admissions clerk upon bed bookings. This information is critical and we ask that you please contact pre-admissions if you are not certain.
Special dietary requirements?
Should you require a special diet, please notify the hospital.
It is a good idea to pack for your stay at Maternity at Life Midmed well before the baby is due so that everything is ready when labour begins.
Baby registration at hospital
Bring 2 certified copies of the mother’s and father’s ID for baby registration together with a black pen.
In the maternity ward visitors are restricted to 2 per bed. Please advise your friends and family prior to the birth of the baby to avoid misunderstandings.

No children under the age of 16 (apart from siblings) may visit in the maternity unit. Kindly note that this is in the interest of the mother and baby’s health, in order to minimise infection risks.
Security for mother and baby
Restricted visiting also helps our staff to ensure your baby`s security, as unidentified visitors are not permitted into the ward out of designated visiting times.
For your baby`s safety and for your peace of mind, the ward door is locked at all times.
We are looking forward to having you with us and wish to congratulate you on your baby. Please don`t hesitate to contact us should you need further information.

A Pre-admission should be carried out at least 48 hours prior to admission in order to be able to speed up the admission process. Pre-Admission forms are available from your doctor’s rooms or the hospital’s reception department. After completion of the pre-admission form it can be either faxed to the hospital on 086 226 3907 prior to hospitalisation or handed in personally at the pre-admission clinic. A sms or telephone call will be made informing the patient about authorisation received from the medical aid as well as any co-payments where applicable.
In keeping with our goal to continue providing high quality care; we monitor our service to patients on an ongoing basis. Customer satisfaction is measured in every department. On discharge patients are asked to complete a questionnaire regarding their stay at the hospital. Participation is voluntary, but this will assist the hospital management to address any problems and improve our service to you.
We especially welcome any suggestions our patients may have. If you have any suggestions for us, please send us an e-mail at Helani.Nel@lifehealthcare.co.za.

This is done to facilitate the time allocation for the theatres as well as to accommodate emergencies and variances, which occur from time to time. Please prepare yourself for a waiting period and bring reading material or something to keep yourself occupied.
We encourage you not to bring valuables (e.g. cell phones, jewellery, large amounts of money) to the hospital, but should you do so, we recommend that you make use of our security safe for those items you may wish to put away.
