Overview
Life Rehabilitation provides quality, cost effective,
acute, outcomes driven physical and cognitive rehabilitation for patients affected
by stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury and other disabling conditions.
Operating 229 beds – almost 50 percent of all private acute rehabilitation beds
in South Africa – Life Rehabilitation constitutes a significant portion of the rehabilitation
service in the country. We currently have an expanding network of six facilities
in key areas throughout South Africa and provide wide coverage and access to this
much needed service. Recently, our rehabilitation services offered have been diversified
with the inclusion of well researched and specialised rehabilitation programmes for orthopaedic,
paediatric and
pulmonary conditions to address the ever increasing
demand for these services. All of our units listed below are accredited as dedicated
rehabilitation facilities according to a strict list of criteria, issued by the
Department of Health and the Board of Healthcare Funders.
Our well equipped facilities are custom designed to ensure appropriate accessibility
and optimisation of functional skills retraining and offer accommodation, with integrated
living and leisure areas, as well as treatment areas. The gymnasiums and other rehabilitation
areas are dedicated for the use of patients in the rehabilitation unit only. Specialised
equipment is upgraded on an ongoing basis to ensure that treatment is consistent
with international standards.

personal needs of its patients and their families. Life Rehabilitation embarked
on a separate quality certification process and has now achieved separate
ISO 9001:2008
certification, making us the only certificated networked group of rehabilitation
units in the country. This certification in quality management systems underpins
Life Rehabilitation's commitment and ability to provide our patients with quality,
world class rehabilitation services.
All of our rehabilitation units offer similar services, and treatment is rendered
by experienced interdisciplinary teams of dedicated medical, nursing and therapy
rehabilitation professionals who are focused on ensuring optimal functional progress
and independence and maximised clinical outcomes. Our rehabilitation teams have
a strong interdisciplinary focus, and make use of both individual and group interventions.
The group sessions are supportive and educational, encompassing both physical and
cognitive therapies. Individual sessions are centered more around discipline-specific
interventions, contributing to the overall aim of achieving interdisciplinary goals.
