The rehabilitation unit is a free standing facility situated on Life Entabeni Hospital’s
premises in Berea in Durban. It is centrally located in close proximity to shopping
centres and public and recreational facilities, allowing for various patient activities
and community reintegration outings as part of the rehabilitation programme.

Facilities
|
The adult and paediatric units are housed in separate wings. They comprise six and
two bed wards, each equipped with its own bathroom. Facilities include: well equipped
adult and paediatric gymnasiums a kitchenette, an activities of daily living (ADL)
room for patients to achieve maximum independence prior to discharge, an outdoor
therapy area, and an outdoor hydrotherapy-pool. In July 2009, the unit was expanded
by 14 adult and 10 paediatric beds to its current capacity. The paediatric rehabilitation
unit is the first of its kind in KwaZulu-Natal and the first Life Rehabilitation
paediatric unit in South Africa.
