Contact us
Life Hunterscraig Private Hospital is a short term, crisis intervention facility which opened in 1993 to serve the mental healthcare needs of the community. It houses 35 beds for mental healthcare users, plus four emergency beds. Users are admitted on a voluntary basis for a variety of mental health conditions including substance dependence. Users are admitted for an average of 12 to 14 days, but can stay up to 21 days. The treatment is focused on containment of the crisis the user is experiencing, stabilising with medication as well as equipping them with life skills in order to effectively cope with their situation. We offer a safe, tranquil and therapeutic environment where users have an opportunity to reflect on their situations/problems and develop skills to manage these problems with the assistance of their psychiatrist and/or psychologist. Our permanent team consists of mental health nursing practitioners, a social worker, an occupational therapist, and a full time psychologist. Monitoring our users’ views on all aspects of our service keeps us up to date with their needs and enable us to provide them with the best possible service at all times.
