Our modern, sophisticated facilities include:
- 235 beds and 9 theatres, two of which have laminar flow
- An orthopaedic unit (including care) is committed to specialised surgery, including the treatment of foot, knee, back and joint replacements
- A neurosurgery unit where our team deals with delicate neurosurgical procedures
- A 8 bed neurosurgery ICU
- A 4 bed neurosurgery high care unit
- An endoscope unit
- A 24-hour accident & emergency unit manned by a multi-disciplinary team trained to handle any emergency situation, with the latest medical technology at their disposal
- A 11 bed general intensive care unit, equipped with leading diagnostic and monitoring facilities
- Cardio unit including a cardio ICU, cardio ward and catheterisation lab
- Oncology, medical, children and general surgery ward
- An obstetric and gynaecology unit which is involved in more than 1,000 deliveries each year. The unit is supported by:
- A 15 bed maternity unit with well-appointed wards and video security facilities
- A 12 bed neonatal and paediatric intensive care unit complete with state-of-the-art monitoring and life support equipment dedicated to the treatment of premature babies and critically-ill children up to the age of 12 years
- A radiology facility, with a comprehensive range of sophisticated diagnostic equipment including:
- Nuclear medicine
- CT scanner
- MRI scanner and x-rays
Little Life facilities:
- A 15 bed maternity unit with well-appointed wards, individualised security system and 3D-sonar facilities
- A 12 bed neonatal and paediatric intensive care unit complete with state-of-the-art monitoring and life support equipment dedicated to the treatment of premature babies and critically-ill children up to the age of 12 years
- A children’s ward complete with playroom, physiotherapy rooms, isolation ward and rooms where parents can stay over with their children
- A baby clinic which delivers a comprehensive support system to moms and babies (including antenatal classes)
- Visit www.littlelife.co.za to make use of practical tools such as an Ovulation and Due Date Calendar and our Names for Life tool. You can also share your new Little Life with family and friends, near and far, through the Baby Pictures facility

Patient and visitor information
It is a privilege to care and support you with top quality medical care. A highly qualified medical team of doctors, nursing, paramedical and administrative staff, are working together to make your recovery speedy and comfortable.

Accommodation
The Hospital provides beds for day patients, private rooms, general wards, high and intensive care units. Each bed is equipped with a buzzer that can be used to call nursing staff.
Discharge
Patients are discharged by their physician during his / her rounds of the wards. Kindly make the necessary travel arrangements, should you be discharged on the same day that you received anesthesia. Please make sure that you take all your possessions with you, including your x-rays, home medication and personal items.
Financial Information
We kindly request that you obtain conformation on the following from your medical aid:
- Medical costs covered;
- authorization for hospitalization;
- maximum benefits or exclusions which may be applicable;
- benefit restrictions, regarding prosthesis and instrumentation.
Certain medical aid funds require their members to pay a percentage of the incurred costs. It is however important to bare in mind that the account remains the patient`s responsibility, and is payable within 30 days of discharge. If you are uncertain of any financial aspects of your medical aid, please consult one of our case coordinators. The ward secretary can arrange a visit by a case coordinator. We request private patients to pay an amount equal to the estimated cost of the total account upon admission. The outstanding balance, if any, is payable upon discharge. It is however, important to keep in mind that the hospital account does not include any other incurred costs, e.g. services rendered by your doctor, anesthetist, radiologist, pathologist, etc. Please contact the Hospital regarding advance payments prior to your admission.

*The above-mentioned do not apply to obstetric cases or medical aid funds with alternative fee structures.
Patients younger than 18 years must be accompanied by an adult on admission and discharge. The parent or guardian is requested to give written consent for the admission of anaesthetic, as well as take responsibility for the account prior to admission.
Service monitoring
In keeping with our goal to continue providing high quality care; we monitor our service to patients on an ongoing basis. On discharge patients are asked to complete a questionnaire regarding their stay at the hospital. Participation is voluntary, but this will assist the hospital management to address any problems and improve our service to you.
Visitor Information
Bed rest is vital for healing, but we also believe that frequent visits from loved ones are an important part of the healing process.

Children are welcome, when accompanied by an adult family member. In the intensive care units only two family members (over the age of 12 years) are permitted during visiting hours. Unfortunately children under the age of 12 are not permitted in pediatrics.
