Life Bay View Private Hospital was acquired by Life Healthcare on 2 June 2010.

The management and staff of Life Bay View Private Hospital pride themselves on their commitment to service excellence. Our facilities
Situated high on a hill in Mossel Bay, with spectacular views of the Indian Ocean, the 108 bed Life Bay View Private Hospital is an upmarket, high technology facility located in a tranquil setting.
The hospital’s accident and emergency unit is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with a doctor on call. Specialists are also on call in the event of their expertise being required to manage an emergency.
State of the art facilities and technology include five theatres, two of which are equipped with laminar flow technology; as well as a digital urology theatre and a gastroenterology suite. There are also a cardiac catheterisation laboratory equipped with advanced technology equipment; a six bed intensive care unit, an eight bed high care unit, and a two bed neonatal ICU located in the 12 bed maternity wing. Other facilities include a paediatric unit, sleep laboratory, and pharmacy.
In addition to the cardiac catheterisation laboratory, diagnostic facilities comprise a pathology laboratory and radiology unit including X-rays, a CT scanner, MRI scanner, bone densitometry scanner and sonar equipment.
Accommodation is provided in wards and private rooms, which are luxuriously appointed to promote the comfortable recovery of our patients, complete with value-added services such as an a la carte menu. Just Coffee @ Bay View is also situated on the premises for the comfort of our visitors and patients.

At Life Bay View Private Hospital, we take pride in providing you with information that you will need in order to make your stay with us a pleasant and hassle-free experience.

Admission
The following items are required for admission:
- Current medical aid membership card
- Identity document
- Pre-authorisation number, if applicable
- X-rays, if applicable
- Medication, if in use
- Personal clothing and toiletries
A parent or legal guardian must accompany all patients under 18 years.
Discharge
Day patients undergoing surgery under anaesthetic should arrange for transport from the hospital. It is not advisable to drive for 24 hours following an anaesthetic.
Pre-admission
We will contact you telephonically prior to admission.
Service monitoring
In keeping with our goal to continue providing high quality care, we monitor our service to patients on an ongoing basis. On discharge patients are asked to complete a questionnaire regarding their stay in hospital. Participation is voluntary, but it does assist management in addressing any problems and improving our service. We especially welcome any suggestions you may have.
Tariffs
- Life Bay View Private Hospital charges medical aid tariffs according to scale of benefits.
- Private patients and members of certain medical aids will be required to pay a deposit prior to admission, and to settle their accounts in full on discharge.
- Medical aid and medical insurance scheme members are advised to check the extent of their coverage prior to admission, and to obtain a pre-authorisation number from their funder, if applicable.
Visitor information
Our visiting hours are as follows:
General Wards & ICU:
- 11:00 - 12:00
- 15:00 - 16:00
- 19:00 - 20:00
Only three visitors are allowed per patient in general wards and in ICU visitors are restricted to only two family members at one time.
Maternity Ward
- 08:00 - 20:00 (Only fathers & grandparents)
- 15:00 - 16:00
- 19:00 - 20:00
Three visitors are allowed per patient at one time.
No visiting will be allowed outside visiting hours.
