Cardiac overview
At Life Fourways Hospital’s cardiac unit we focus on all aspects of heart health
– from awareness and education initiatives to cardiology, cardio-thoracic surgery
and the rehabilitation of cardiac patients.
Our dedicated, multi-disciplinary team of leading supporting specialists who are
also respected academics, other healthcare professionals and specialist nursing
staff, together with our state of the art facilities and technology ensure the
best possible cardiac service to the Fourways and surrounding communities.
Our cardiac facilities
- A 24-hour level 1 trauma and emergency unit, complete with helicopter landing pad, capable of handling any form of cardiac emergency
- A high-technology cardiac catheterisation laboratory, where our two cardiologists evaluate coronaries, heart muscle and valves to determine abnormalities which can be treated and corrected medically or in the laboratory, or be referred to a cardio-thoracic surgeon
